Asparagus in Australia
Victoria grew 6,180 t of Australia's 6,339 t of asparagus in the year to June 2025 – about 97 % – mostly around Koo Wee Rup and Dalmore in West Gippsland (Hort Innovation). The crop is worth A$69.0 million, and 1,443 t worth A$11.1 million was exported fresh, mainly to Japan and other Asian markets.
Spears are hand-harvested daily from September to December, hydro-cooled and packed the same day, so intake QC speed decides shelf life.
