A grower-packer of about 36 short-shelf-life crops (asparagus, baby spinach, herbs, rocket, kale and others) replaced paper QC with Producepak QI. Read the full case study.

Cut produce waste – see how it worksWhat the QC module does
- Inspection templates per crop, customer and stage – receival, pre-pack, post-pack, storage, pre-shipping
- Photos on every sample; AI scores criteria such as blight, rust, purple spot, size, insect damage and packaging
- Human-in-the-loop: the inspector approves or overrides each result
- Pass, downgrade or reject with automatic e-mail to the grower or buyer
- QC holds stop failed pallets being picked or loaded
- Supplier scorecards and quality trends for price negotiations
Why faster QC protects shelf life
Cutting intake inspection from 14.5 to 4.35 minutes per sample keeps temperature-sensitive crops such as rocket, watercress and herbs out of the ambient receiving bay for longer – which protects the cold chain and shelf life.

Questions
Does the AI replace QC staff?
No. The AI fills in the results and the inspector approves them. In the case study, inspection time fell 70% and QC staff moved to higher-value packline work.
Which crops can the AI inspect?
The model is trained per crop and defect. Producepak QI has been deployed on asparagus, leafy greens and herbs, and inspection templates can be built for any product.
Can QC be used without the full Producepak system?
Yes. Producepak QI can run on its own or integrated with Producepak packhouse software.
