PTI case labels printed from the packing screen
US retail and food-service distribution centers expect Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) case labels: a GS1-128 barcode carrying the GTIN and lot, human-readable pack date and a voice pick code. Producepak prints them as each case is packed, so the label and the lot record always match.

- Item UPC or PLU for the consumer unit
Retailer specifics
Kroger, for example, states that the GS1-128 barcode is required on the PTI label; an ITF-14 GTIN is accepted only if harvest or pack date and grower lot are also printed in human-readable form. Producepak stores each customer’s label layout and selects it automatically from the order.

Questions
Which printers work?
Zebra and other thermal label printers on the network or USB, driven from tablets, PCs or packing-line stations.
Do we need our own GS1 company prefix?
Yes. GTINs and SSCCs are built from your GS1 US company prefix; Producepak calculates check digits and voice pick codes.
Can one case carry two lots?
PTI expects one lot per case. Producepak blocks mixed-lot cases unless you allow it for a customer.
