CITRUS PACKAGING
A machine designed to place fruit in boxes by layers, according to an established format. It stands out for its high production and handling care of the fruit. The machine incorporates a regulatory accumulative tank, the packaging part itself and the box feed.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Production for 20X30cm boxes: 1000 boxes/hour.
Production for 50×30/40×30/44x29cm boxes: 500 boxes/hour (2 layers).
Installed power: 5 kW.
Air consumption: 200 LN/minute.
Categorías: FRUIT AND VEGETABLE APPLICATIONS, FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PACKAGING
How it works
Once the fruit is calibrated, it arrives at the accumulative tank which acts as an automatic production regulator.
From the accumulative tank, the fruit goes on a belt where is distributed, forming a blanket, and from there to the cavities of the conveyor belt. With the fruit in the cavity, it moves to the packaging area where the gripper takes the fruit via suction and places it in the box.
The box arrives via a lower conveyor, then is positioned by pneumatic stops and lifted to the packaging position by a motor. Once elevated, the Teflon funnels are adjusted to the inner walls, allowing for fruit to enter and packaging.
Features
Constructed with electrowelded steel tubing, sheet metal and platens.
Finished with epoxy, two-part polyurethane or zinc paint.
Manufactured in independent modules.
Movement guide through precision prismatic guide.
Vacuum autonomous generator.
Elements in contact with fruit are suitable for handling food.
Rapid change system for the suction pad and the conveyor belt with cavities.
Patented funnel system for the protection of fruit during packaging.
Control via a touch screen terminal.
Advantages
⇒ Perfect fruit handling.
⇒ Fast format change.
⇒ High production.
⇒ Minimal maintenance.
⇒ Adaptable to boxes from 20x30cm to 60x40cm.
⇒ Easy handling.

Fresh Packing
We are growers who are committed to delivering the freshest, highest-quality, best- tasting fruit in the marketplace. Every year we process over half a million tons of fresh citrus in the world’s largest citrus packinghouses.
Our fruit comes directly from the grove to the packinghouses where it is quickly graded, packed and sent to our customers. The integration of our Delano, California, Mission, Texas, and Mexico packinghouses with our shipping facilities provides a complete logistics solution for efficient customer loading and delivery, and ensures the freshest fruit for our customers.
We can guarantee that our products are always shipped as soon as possible. In fact, we are one of the few suppliers that can provide this high-quality fresh citrus all year round.
The newest addition to our family is a state-of-the art Wonderful® Halos® Mandarins packinghouse, it measures in at 640,000 sq. ft., the equivalent of 11 football fields. This plant runs 20 hours a day, six days a week in season. It has the capacity to process 4,000 bins of fruit daily and can store up to 31 million pounds of Wonderful Halos in the cold storage rooms. The plant’s Compac presort line is 310 feet, making it the longest electronic sizer and grader in the world with more than 5 miles of chain.

Our multipurpose orange and lemon packinghouse sits on a 26-acre lot with 450,000 sq. ft. under one roof. The orange packing lines are the biggest fresh citrus packing lines in the United States, capable of processing over 100 tons of citrus per hour. Over the years, we have invested in state-of-the-art, non-invasive, high-speed optical technologies to test the sweetness and quality of oranges.

Eco-friendly packaging to make citrus production more sustainable
A growing number of our products are being packaged using eco-friendly materials. Our target in terms of packaging and raw materials is zero waste while using 100% eco-friendly materials for our products by 2030. The latest in the series of more sustainably packaged products is Aphytis which is produced and packaged by Koppert Spain and used by citrus growers for the biocontrol of a number of scale insects. The new, eco-friendly packaging for Aphytis is made from 100% biodegradable cardboard and bioplastic PLA.
Growing environmental awareness
Used for the biological control of California red scale, oleander scale, San José scale and other scale insects, the parasitic wasp is reared locally in Spain and is increasingly used by citrus farmers in Southern European regions, MEA countries and South Africa to produce sustainably grown fruit without pesticide residues.
The packaging has been designed, developed and produced entirely by the Koppert production facility in the Murcian town of Águilas. All 6 elements of the new Aphytis container comply with the European standard EN13432, which regulates the requirements by which containers and packaging can be recovered through composting and biodegradation. The new Aphytis packaging also includes a sheet of natural cotton impregnated with a sugar solution. The strips of green paper that are used to release the parasitic wasp Aphytis melinus in the field, also use 100% biodegradable paper. The label itself is made with natural paper without additives.
More sustainable citrus
The new eco-friendly Aphytis packaging reflects Koppert's commitment to the circular production processes and contributes to improving the sustainability of citrus production. This is not the first of Koppert’s products to use packaging that facilitates subsequent recycling. The introduction of the Ulti-Mite sachets that use 100% compostable packaging, and the Eco-friendly coolbox for transportation of live cargo are all part of a growing number of innovations to promote sustainable practices.
With our firm commitment to materials which are renewable or recycled, we contribute to reinforcing the sustainability and healthy image of citrus fruits; something that retailers and consumers are increasingly concerned about.
